Integral Collector System (ICS):
The system is the simplest and most economical system, being ideal for mild climates. However, it has the most potential to freeze as because the collector holds the water that will be heated. Huge batch collectors, can withstand long colder conditions than the smaller systems. These types of systems are passive and are usually plumbed straight between the cold water supply and the water heater, as this makes the plumbing a lot easier and straightforward. When someone opens a tap in the home, the water flows from the collector down into the water heater, and if the water in the collector has enough heat, the domestic water heater wont need to add any heat at all. Beckenham Plumbers are skilled professionals. The majority of the ICS systems must be drained of water when there is a risk of them freezing. They also use manual or automatic valves. The burst collector is expensive to fix. They’re big and bulky, so the factory may need to collect them. At least they are cheap and easy to fit and use, which is why they’re so abundant.

Drainback Systems:
The drainback systems do exactly that, they take the fluid out of the collector and exposed pipework if there is no sunlight or when there is no need to heat the domestic water because it’s already up to temperature. These types of systems use a special vessel for storing the drained fluid. They are medium on the price scale and can be operated in colder climates. There is less risk of bursting pipes than a conventional ICS system.
